Freshman Push Behrend Past Hilbert

Both Lia Vinciguerra and Sami Lowry scored their first collegiate goals last week against Hilbert College. Alex Bilka netted another to give Penn State Behrend the 3-0 win.

Following the whistle at Hilbert College, the lions started pressing Hawks defenders to create turnovers from the start. Although the Lions midfield and back four  kept possession well, the lions had trouble scoring a goal within the first 30 minutes. 5'1, crafty and agile Lia Vinciguerra made the difference by tallying her first collegiate goal in the 40th minute of play - after skinning a few defenders Lia was fouled in the eighteen yard box and given a penalty kick, she put away the PK confidently to give the PSB Lions a 1-0 lead going into halftime.

Starting the second half, Penn State Behrend began to manage the game well. By keeping possession within the midfield and PSB's back line, captains Maddie Monte and Shelby Lloyd were able to control the the pace of the game. The control throughout the field lead to a couple great chances for the Lions. Connecting those passes gave Alex Bilka the opportunity to put her away her eighth goal of the season making the score 2-0, giving the the Lions some room to breathe.

While outside backs Rachel Wayend and Rachel Oelbracht held off Hilbert forwards, Sami Lowry did her part by scoring her first collegiate goal in the AMCC making the score 3-0. That goal secured the win for PSB giving them their second win in the AMCC.
