Penn State Behrend recored their third AMCC win this past weekend against a talented La Roche soccer team. Both teams played well but the Lions found a way to pull ahead in the second half. Hard, smart and strategic defense helped PSB stop La Roche forwards from finding the back of the net.
Throughout the first half PSB had good chances but weren't able to capitalize on any opportunities. Build up and possession gave PSB the better of the first half but the score was locked up at 0-0 as the Lions headed into the halftime huddle.
Following Coach Patricks chat at halftime, the Lions came out with intensity. That intensity lead to Olivia Belack's goal three minutes into the second half. The goal came from a set play off of a corner kick taken by Rachel Weyand. Weyand's laser pass found Olivia's boot at the top of the penalty box, where Olivia netted the goal - putting the Lions up 1-0. It only took Belack approximately fifteen minutes to net a second one, where she dribbled past defenders until ripping a shot past the Red Hawks goalie giving the Lions some breathing room at 2-0.
With about ten minutes remaining in regular time, the Lions would score two more times to extend their lead to 4-0. Rachel Weyand recored her second assist of the game from yet another corner kick, where Shelby Lloyd deflected the ball into the net. Minutes later, Leah Morra would find Alex Bilka on a through ball to end the game with a 4-0 confident victory over La Roche Red Hawks.
The Lions return to action today at home against Medaille. Game time is 5pm.
