Senior Day!!

Saturday's game against Mount Aloysius marked Senior Day for Sam Vasy and Rachel Mueller.

Sam and Rachel have been a pleasure to coach throughout their four years here and have both been extremely successful. During their collegiate career, they have helped the Lions to a 47-27-4 overall record and an unprecedented 28-3-1 mark in the conference. They have also won back-to-back AMCC Championships and advanced to the NCAA Tournament twice, while earning a bid to the ECAC Tournament in 2010.

Senior Rachel Mueller is majoring in psychology with a minor in special education. Rachel has played in 66 games and has been the backbone of the Lions’ defense. Mueller was named to the All-AMCC first team last year after starting in every game on defense and recording one goal, as well as the AMCC preseason Defensive Player of the Year.  She is also an AMCC All-Academic choice and a TOPS Soccer participant.

Senior Sam Vasy is majoring in psychology and special education. She is a two-time All-AMCC selection and the Co-Newcomer of the year as a freshman. Vasy has scored 11 goals, including four game winners, and has dished out 15 assists for 37 points. Her 15 assists currently ranks her ninth on the all-time list. Vasy has played 72 career games including every contest her first two seasons. She had four goals and five assists so far this season. Vasy also is a TOPs Soccer participant.

To cap off a great Senior day Sam had two goals and an assist and Rachel helped hold Mount Aloysius scoreless in Saturday's very wet game! Below is a picture of Rachel, Sam, and Coach O'Driscoll after the final whistle on Saturday.

A big thanks from everyone involved in the Behrend soccer program for the efforts of Sam and Rachel during their time here. Still a few more games left!!

Behrend Moves to 5-0 in AMCC and Top of Conference Standings

The team is currently in the midst of AMCC play and has made a strong start stringing together 5 consecutive victories against AMCC opponents, conceding only 1 goal in these matches. We currently sit in first place in the AMCC standings but there are some big matches between now and the end of the season. A balanced attack has seen three freshmen frequently on the stat sheet. Alex Bilka, Ally Lonas, and Sammie Pace have 10, 4, and 6 goals respectively. Senior Sam Vasy leads the team in assists with 5.

Continued hard work and focus will be necessary for the conference run-in, with some difficult games coming up, as we seek to reach our team goal of an AMCC Championship.
