Maddie and Shelby Recognized at Senior Night

Seniors Maddie Monte and Shelby Lloyd were recognized Saturday for their hard work and dedication throughout their careers at PSB. During their stay at Behrend, the Lions held a 50-26-4 overall record and went 28-5 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC). Together, Maddie and Shelby have won three straight AMCC Championships and advanced to the NCAA Tournament all three years. Both have committed time to the TOPS Soccer program for special needs children and had an opportunity to travel to Brazil in 2012.

Shelby Lloyd is daughter of Cindy and Fred Lloyd. She will graduate this Spring with an undergraduate degree in Accounting. Shelby has played in 78 games for the Lions, helping PSB succeed with her quick, agile and overall strength on the field. Shelby was named Rookie of the Year after starting all 22 games as a freshman. She was named to the All-Conference second-team her sophomore and junior year, while being named the 2014 AMCC Preseason Defender of the Year to start the season. In her career she has netted 11 goals and dished out three assists for 25 points.

Maddie Monte is daughter of Rhonda and Andy Monte. She will also graduate this Spring, with an undergraduate degree in interdisciplinary business and engineering studies. Maddie has started in all but two games in her career, where she has been the anchor of the defense - using her speed and vision to read passes and run down opposing team forwards. The three-time AMCC All-Academic was the AMCC Newcomer of the Year as a freshman and earned Second-Team All-Conference her sophomore year. As a junior, Maddie was a NSCAA Scholar All-East Region Honorable Mention after starting all 22 games and helping the Lions post eight shutouts.

The Penn State Behrend Athletic staff, coaches and department thanks Maddie and Shelby for representing Penn State Behrend Soccer and wishes them luck in their future endeavors.
